I was there with my faimly in Nov. 2007. It's a place about 650 Km from Cairo near the borders of Sudan and full of impressive pharonic monuments of middle kingdom.
According to historians Hazrat Mosa also born and brought up in Luxor in Ramses 2 Rule (See Tafheem ul Quran by Abul Aala Maudoodi) although no one is certain about the dates and places of events mentioned in Quran and other holy scriptures.
